This cookbook contains more than 70 recipes that are far more than simply old family favorites. For nearly 3/4 of a century, these formulas and trade secrets were closely guarded but are now being made available to the public for the first time. All the recipes have been tested, with step-by-step procedures recorded, using the same concept as 'painting by numbers'. Read more...

He got his start in the candy business in Mayville, New York, when his father, Paul, put him to work in their barn, where his dad stored all the ingredients for huge all-day lollipops so popular at county fairs in the 1950s and 1960s.
"We had three shifts of workers making those lollipops," John Webb said.
Paul Webb insisted on cleanliness, of course, so it was John's job to move all the ingredients, including the lollipop sticks, around the barn so it could be cleaned.
Because the ingredients came in railroad box cars, there was a lot to move.
Visit Country Kettle to meet the family whose homemade fudge is still made the old fashioned way. Stainless steel fudge vats collect the fudge over steam grates. The fudge is then cooled in copper because it’s the best way to cool evenly. After six hours, the fudge is hand-whipped, often by owner John Maschal, who doesn’t mind sampling as he stirs. The kettles are placed in wooden barrels, weighted so they don’t tip during the stirring frenzy. The kettles (on display in the Beach Haven store) also served as the perfect playpen for John’s burgeoning family.
