When it comes to sweet things, I'll take caramel over chocolate any day. This is not to say I don't care for chocolate - I very much do. In fact, I cannot pass a See's Candy shop without a pop in. So how does this relate to personal finance? Myth and cost.

A saying that often get's bandied about as fact is "you get what you pay for." In other words, the steeper the price, the better the product. Of course it's true for some items, but all? Nope, and that's why I loathe hearing it. And a perfect example of just why that statement is flawed is a side-by-side taste test of See's and Godiva chocolates. In my humble opinion, the relatively inexpensive former is infinitely greater than the definitely pricey latter.

Jacque ( @jacquebona ), one of my clients, graciously sent me a box of delicious Godiva chocolate cookies from my Amazon wishlist!  Nom, Nom, Nom.

These delicious treats consist of a dark, smooth pat of chocolate stamped with the Godiva logo carefully placed on top of a heart shaped butter cookies.

To bite into one of these cookies is like leaning back on the beach into your chair after a nice swim.

The chocolate is softer than a chocolate bar and the cookie part has a good crunch to it.  You bit into the same amount of chocolate as cookie so that’s a nice balance.
